Christie Hunt is an accomplished professional counselor. As an undergraduate, she attended Texas Tech University, where she earned a BA in Psychology. Christie then moved to Dallas to attend Southern Methodist University where she received her Master’s of Science in Counseling.
Christie has years of experience working with substance abuse and co-existing issues in residential and outpatient treatment settings. She worked closely with adolescents and adults to reclaim their lives and strengthen their relationships. Christie specializes in relationship dynamics. In sessions, she utilizes interventions that break dysfunctional patterns and behaviors, enhance effective communication, and create harmonious, lasting relationships. She is a certified SYMBIS facilitator for pre-marital couples and has completed the Gottman level I training for couples counseling. She enjoys working with the entire family system to promote a supportive, healing environment so that broken relationships can be restored.
Christie values the therapeutic relationship and offers a safe, trusting place for individuals and couples to process their pain and struggles. She utilizes her faith and trust in the Lord to bring healing into the lives of others. Her scope of practice includes, but is not limited to marital issues, relationship difficulties, family dynamics/conflict, anxiety, depression, stress and anger management, self-esteem, substance abuse, and children (ages 7 and up).
Christie also specializes in trauma work. She is passionate about helping people and their families that have experienced recent or past trauma(s) overcome obstacles that interfere with their daily functioning. She is trained in Trauma Incident Reduction and currently undergoing EMDR training.
As active members of their church, Christie and her husband serve as preschool leaders in the children’s ministry. They recently entered a new stage in their life as parents to a baby boy. While navigating her way through motherhood, Christie also enjoys being active outdoors, traveling, and spending time with her friends and family.
