Amy knows personally that life can be challenging and that asking for help and trusting someone new can be a big hurdle to overcome. That is why Amy is grateful for every opportunity to create a safe, authentic and non-judgmental environment for her clients to explore and grow in ways that are important to them. Amy also values her own practice of self-care and uses the skills she teaches in sessions in her own life.

Amy sees clients as the experts on their lives, and enjoys coming alongside to teach new skills to help them live the lives they want. Amy enjoys helping clients learn strategies to deal with difficult emotions, improve self-worth, increase awareness of relationship patterns, have healthy communication and boundaries, facilitate healing from past pain and struggles, all while increasing life contentment and peace. Amy is trained to use an integration of modalities based on the client’s needs and desires which can include: EMDR, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Experiential, Exposure and Mindfulness based practices. Amy enjoys incorporating spirituality into sessions, only inasmuch as her clients desire to do so.

Amy sees her counseling practice as a safe place to explore individual’s issues related to: anxiety, trauma, relationship difficulties, sexual abuse, self-esteem, perfectionism, depression, family issues, codependency, feelings of being stuck, emotional eating, spiritual concerns, maternal mental health/postpartum care, queer/questioning, spiritual abuse, faith deconstruction, grief, among other life difficulties. Additionally, Amy has a professional background in foster care/adoption services, extensive trauma sensitive training, as well as experience with the unique challenges of a military life.
