Registered Mental Health Counselor Intern (RMHCI)

Jose holds dual Master’s degrees in Human Services Counseling and Clinical Mental Health Counseling, as well as a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and Associate degrees in both Criminology and Psychology. He has also completed specialized training in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and is certified in Moral Reconation Therapy (MRT) and SYMBIS (Saving Your Marriage Before It Starts) for premarital and couples counseling.

He is a Registered Mental Health Counselor Intern (RMHCI), meaning he is a post-master’s clinician holding a provisional license and actively working toward full licensure. This reflects his advanced training and ongoing professional development, while he provides therapy under supervision.

Experience & Expertise

Jose has extensive experience across multiple clinical settings. He has worked in inpatient addiction treatment programs and outpatient therapy, providing care to clients with a wide range of mental health and behavioral challenges. His experience includes working with individuals struggling with depression, anxiety, addiction, grief, trauma, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, OCD, emotion regulation difficulties, social skills deficits, anger management concerns, impulsivity, self-esteem issues, and relationship challenges. Additionally, he helps clients develop healthy boundaries, teaching them to advocate for their needs, maintain self-respect, and foster healthier relationships.

In addition, Jose has provided Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) services as an ABA technician and facilitated psychosocial rehabilitation groups for individuals with developmental disabilities and mental health disorders. He is trained to work with clients across different life stages and backgrounds, from young adults to older adults, and with a variety of clinical concerns. His versatility ensures that he can support a broad range of clients.

Faith-Informed Counseling

Jose also integrates faith-informed counseling for clients who wish to explore spirituality as part of their therapeutic process. Drawing from his education at a Christian university, he helps clients align therapy with their personal values and beliefs, fostering deeper insight, resilience, and long-term growth.
